Teaching martial arts is a great responsibility and therefore, we follow the Japanese philosophy of Kaizen, the practice of continual improvement, on the mat, in the dojo, and in all aspects of life.

 Satori Instructor’s Creed

I will teach this class because it's the most important class I will ever teach.

I am patient and enthusiastic.

I lead by example.

We take safety seriously.  Our instructors are certified in CPR/AED and Basic First Aid by the American Red Cross and both of our schools are equipped with Automated External Defibrillators.

IWe believe martial arts is much more than kicking and punching.  Instructors on our team are members of The 100., a national association of martial arts instructors committed to setting an example of excellence and mastery for all martial artists, and in fact, for all people in our community. The 100. is an association of people who believe that their actions count. We believe the true spirit of the martial arts lies beyond the punch, beyond the kick, beyond the throw, the style, system or its country of origin. Read more about the 100. here. http://theubbtand100.blogspot.com/

Shidoshi Torie RovereSensei Torie Rovere

Head Instructor/Manager, East Brunswick

Ms. Rovere is a 3rd Degree Black Belt Instructor who  “grew up in the dojo” and her maturity, teaching skill, and business acumen are far beyond her years. Her enthusiasm is contagious and her dedication to her students is outstanding.

"Martial Arts is more than just punching and kicking, it is a way to a more fulfilling life.  Since the age of four, Martial Arts has given me all the tools necessary to overcome obstacles both inside and outside the Dojo.  To now have the opportunity to share my knowledge with others is more rewarding than initially gaining it myself.  A Martial Arts instructor not only teaches self defense, but instills self confidence, self discipline, and the foundation for a non-quitting spirit.  As Gichin Funakoshi once said, "The ultimate aim of Karate [Martial Arts] lies not in victory or defeat, but in the perfection of the character of its participants."  My goal is to help you reach your perfection."
