What do the world’s best coaches, parents, athletes, students and friends have in common? The world-class coaches have the ability to focus, educate and challenge their athletes to perform consistently at their best -- Even when the athlete doesn’t feel like it. The winning athlete is able to focus on improvement; to encourage themselves and their teammates to dig in deeper and draw out that winning move or play.
The most successful parents also have the ability to draw out the best in their children; to challenge them to live up to a high moral code, to hold themselves to a higher standard and strive for excellence in all areas of life. Likewise, the most successful students & children are able to draw upon the best within themselves and delay the instant gratification of immediate distractions. They are able to focus on the long-term benefits of realizing their goal.
A best friend is one who is able to be supportive, understanding, and encouraging when we are down; as well as one who celebrates our victories and successes. A best friend always encourages us to be the best we can be. To bring out the best is a sure sign that we have a good friend.
We all have the ability to be world-class coaches, parents, athletes, students and friends. We need to focus on bringing out the best in ourselves and those around us.
Who is someone who brings out the best in you? How can you help to bring out the best in others?
